Founder and Physician
John W. Showalter MD, MSIS
Dr. John W. Showalter is a Danville native and proud Ironman Wrestling alumnus. He received undergraduate education in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University and completed medical school at Penn State College of Medicine. His residency and fellowship training in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics were completed at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He is dual Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics, making him an expert in using advanced technologies to predict and detect risk for cognitive decline, as well as implementing traditional medicine and integrative health approaches to make positive changes in cognitive health. Dr. Showalter was personally impacted by a loved one with dementia, and founded Mindful so that families in Central Pennsylvania can have better access to needed dementia prevention and cognitive care.

Grace Showalter, RN, MHIIM
Grace Showalter R.N. grew up in the Chicago area where she was passionate about reading and vocal music. After completing her Associate in Nursing at Harper College, she moved to Hershey, PA and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Penn State. She earned her Master of Health Informatics and Information Management from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Grace is a champion of lifestyle medicine and the needs of the “sandwich generation.” As a nurse, she understands the challenges facing families as they deal with chronic diseases and declining health, and as a mother and daughter, she understands the necessity of supporting the whole family. Her goal at Mindful is to help prevent dementia when possible, and to support patients and their caregivers as they navigate the complex journey of cognitive decline while maximizing their health and wellbeing.
Medical Director
Adam J. Albert, MD
Dr. Adam J. Albert is an experienced primary care physician and award-winning physician educator. He received his undergraduate education in Biology with a concentration in Spanish and Neuroscience from King's College and received his Medical Doctorate from Penn State College of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine internship at Oklahoma University College of Medicine before returning to Penn State Hershey Medical Center to complete his residency and to serve as Chief Resident. He is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Albert's clinical practice has focused on adult and geriatric primary care in private practice and through several area health systems. In addition to providing medical direction to Mindful, Dr. Albert practices geriatrics internal medicine in Lebanon, PA and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine. His leadership in training the next generation of physicians earned him the 2021 Medicine Clerkship Teacher of the Year award, determined by student evaluations which praised Dr. Albert’s genuine concern and dedication to individual learners as well as his commitment to teaching by time spent both during and outside of rounds calls. Dr. Albert is proud to serve Spanish-speaking populations and is passionate about improving health care through education, system engineering, and leveraging the power of Big Data.
